SoutholdVotes.Com
SoutholdVotes.com is a group of highly motivated individual taxpayers who
promote community discussion and awareness to the often unwarranted and
frivolous spending practices by our hamlet district agencies.    One such
district agency, The Southold Free Library, has proposed an expansion
project far beyond the reach of the average taxpayer in scope and in cost.
We would suggest to the Trustees that they shelve this project immediately
so that they may save countless taxpayer dollars that would otherwise be
wasted during a costly vetting process.

Dear Mr. Fujita:

By way of introduction, my name is Douglas Stares, President and sole owner of the web site
www.SoutholdVotes.com .  Our group is comprised of concerned residents who have become
quite alarmed at the magnitude of the Southold Library expansion project.

The taxpayers of the hamlets of Peconic and Southold, who would bear the burden of your
expansion,  are already over-taxed and are now dealing with exorbitant winter heating costs,
ever rising food prices, record gasoline and diesel prices, excessive LIPA energy costs, ever
rising school and property taxes, and endless struggles with health insurance costs.  In these
difficult economic times, the last thing these taxpayers need is the additional and
unnecessary expense of a very costly addition to our already excellent library building.
Therefore, we respectfully request that you and your trustees place this project on hold.

We would like to meet with you to discuss our concerns about this proposed library expansion.

Yours very truly,

Douglas M Stares
